Discussion 2 (Microsoft Excel)

Over the past couple of decades, police departments are increasingly making use of data and statistical analysis. This will be a major focus of the second half of the semester. This week’s readings cover the basics of Microsoft Excel, as well as a few advanced topics.

For this week’s discussion posting, describe one way in which you think Excel can be used effectively by a police department to improve a particular aspect of its functioning.

Be specific in the example you give, and be detailed in your discussion of how you think Excel can contribute to that aspect of what police departments do.

It is not sufficient to say something like “they can use it to help keep track of their data.”
