Task Details

This is an individual 3,000-word essay.  The essay topic is either;

Discuss the contribution of responsible business practice and the adoption of the Global Compact to sustainable development considering the perspectives of the various stakeholders affected including the natural environment.

Or

Write a critically underpinned, academic letter to your Member of Parliament (MP) explaining the climate crisis and what you would like them to do about it

Or

Alternatively you can decide your own topic if there is an area you particularly want to research.

This topic must not be the same as the one you discussed in assessment one.

It must address the challenges and benefits for business, society and the natural environment of adopting the Global Compact and addressing the Sustainable Development goals.

Make sure your chosen topic addresses the learning outcomes.

Discuss this with your tutor before adopting your topic.

Word Limit and Submission Information

The word limit is 3,000 words.  You must stick to the word limit plus or minus 10%. If you don’t write enough words that is up to you. If you write too many we will disregard any over the limit, (as that is likely to be your conclusion it could affect your grade considerably). Turnitin tells us how many words there are.  The bibliography and reference list don’t count, but everything else does.

Your essay should be submitted electronically through blackboard AND through Turnitin by the deadline shown on your assessment diary.

ANY ESSAY THAT IS NOT SUBMITTED THROUGH TURNITIN BY THE DEADLINE WILL NOT BE MARKED IE. IT WILL BE TREATED AS NON-SUBMISSION.

Referencing

You should note that it is expected that your essay will be extensively and appropriately referenced and will include a bibliography that demonstrates sufficiently extensive reading around the subject.

Referencing is not simply a device to acknowledge the work of others but also ensures that you can demonstrate extensive reading and research into the subject area and is also a short-hand for demonstrating your familiarity with material and theory that you do not have the space to spell out in detail. Guidance on referencing and sourcing is available on SHUSPACE.
